Now for some real 'art' ...
If there is a single part of 'web publishing' that deserves the title 'black art', then color is it! If you really know about pixels and hexadecimal notation, then you know something of the science. If you know what colors strike certain emotional responses and which colors work together, then you know something of the art. If you don't know what these things mean, then we have a long road ahead — color is hard!

Where to being?
We are going to first explore some of the 'science' of color on the web — what is a 'pixel', how is color constructed, and how is does the active, back-lit color of the internet differ from the passive, reflective color that we experience in traditional printed, photographic and artistic material. After that we will talk about emotive and cultural responses, sympathetic colors and some other less science based discussion. If this is new to you, please consider not only reading all of the content, but also exploring these topics more broadly.
